TOOLS OF THE HOUR, REVISITED

This work-in-progress is a new iteration of the tool family. The new set of tools, like Tools of the Hour, will be intended to engage a person in the functionality and physicality of a tool, but, also introduce 3D modeling groundwork. By designing printing blocks with digital perfection – but that can only be implemented by the imperfect human hand – I question the friction between digital and analog and the ultimate limitation of our own human undertakings.

Beneath the dialogue, the soul of the work remains devoted to repetition, realignment, and re-sequencing. My intention is to walk the boundary between human-made and hand-made, as I explore both possibilities and restraints in analog print, test the behavior of materials and shapes, and bring a craftsman’s approach to problem solving.
